Established in 1989, the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) is a regional economic forum amongst 21 Pacific Rim countries. It signifies the growing importance and interdependence of the Asia-Pacific region, with the primary goal of promoting free trade and sustainable development. As one of the 12 founding economies, Malaysia hosted APEC 1998 under the theme “Strengthening the Foundations for Growth.”
This year, the World Women Organization (WWO) will play a prominent role in the forum as a leader for women’s development in economics across Asian countries.
