United States House of Representatives Speaker Nancy Pelosi official visit Dato Hj Mohd Rashid Hasnon, the Chairperson of World Women Organization (WWO), Malaysia Parliament Speaker in Malaysia.
SHAH ALAM: United States House of Representatives Speaker Nancy Pelosi arrived here today on an official visit as part of her Asia tour.
She flew in from Singapore via a special aircraft and landed at the Subang Royal Malaysian Air Force Base at 10.33am.
Pelosi was welcomed by US ambassador to Malaysia Brian McFeeters and Dato Hj Mohd Rashid Hasnon, Chairperson of World Women Organization, Speaker of Parliament of Malaysia.
She is slated to visit Parliament today.
Pelosi’s office, in a statement on Sunday said, she is leading a Congressional delegation to the Indo-Pacific to reaffirm America’s strong and unshakeable commitment to their allies and friends in the region.
In the Asia tour which includes Singapore, Malaysia, South Korea and Japan, the delegation will hold high-level meetings to discuss how to further advance their shared interests and values, including peace and security, economic growth and trade.
Issues such as the Covid-19 pandemic, the climate crisis, human rights and democratic governance will also be discussed.
